The Highfield Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work Refresher Course is a two-day training designed for individuals who need to renew their first aid certification. This course is crucial for ensuring that certified first aiders remain competent and up-to-date with the latest first aid practices and procedures. This course is delivered using blended learning. 6 hours are delivered face to face within the classroom, with one of highly qualified instructors and 6 hours of online elearning. During your face to face training you will complete a range of practical activities and assessments, aswell as a short multiple choice examination.

The course covers a comprehensive review of essential first aid topics, including:

1. Incident and Casualty Assessment

  • Conducting a primary survey (DRABC).
  • Assessing the scene and ensuring safety.
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty.

2. CPR and AED

  • Refresher on adult CPR techniques.
  • Safe operation and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
  • Hands-on practice with CPR mannequins and AED devices.

3. Unconscious Casualty Management

  • Placing a casualty in the recovery position.
  • Managing seizures and other unconscious states.

4. Wounds, Bleeding, and Shock

  • Recognising and treating different types of bleeding.
  • Managing shock effectively.
  • Bandaging techniques for various injuries.

5. Minor Injuries and Medical Conditions

  • Treating burns, scalds, cuts, and eye injuries.
  • Managing medical conditions such as asthma attacks, diabetes emergencies, and choking.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Highfield Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work certificate, valid for another three years. This certification ensures that first aiders are fully equipped to handle medical emergencies in the workplace.
