Prerequisites
To enrol in this course, participants must:
- Hold a valid Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative in the Private Security Industry.
- Have a current SIA Close Protection license.
- Hold a valid First Aid at Work (or higher) qualification.
- Be proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) to effectively participate in the course.
Course Content
The Highfield Level 2 Award for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry (Top-Up) covers the following critical areas:
1. Principles of Working as a Close Protection Operative
- Understanding the role and responsibilities of a close protection operative.
- Updates on legislation, including the latest in the use of force and self-defence laws.
- Risk management and threat assessment techniques.
2. Advanced Surveillance and Reconnaissance Techniques
- Modern surveillance methods and counter-surveillance strategies.
- Use of technology in protective operations.
- Conducting detailed reconnaissance and route planning.
3. Scenario-Based Conflict Management
- Advanced conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
- Managing and responding to potentially violent situations.
- Role-playing scenarios to practice communication and intervention skills.
4. Physical Intervention Skills
- Hands-on training in non-lethal physical intervention techniques.
- Defensive tactics and control methods to ensure the safety of the principal and operative.
- Legal and ethical considerations of using physical force.
5. Medical Emergency Procedures
- Updated first aid and emergency response procedures relevant to close protection.
- Managing medical emergencies in hostile environments.
- Use of specialized first aid equipment and techniques.
